Distinguished and Famous people from Batemans Coast

The coast around Batemans Bay has nurtured creative careers and relied on people prepared to help when circumstances turned dangerous. These are a few of its documented personal connections.

๐ŸŽจ Chloe Morello

Beauty creator Chloe Morello's international career began with makeup videos filmed in her Batemans Bay bedroom. A family motel had once seemed her likely working future, as she recalled in a 2017 interview. Online tutorials instead opened the way to a much wider audience and beauty-industry collaborations. Her later podcast also looks back on those early videos. It is a coastal upbringing with a distinctly modern route into public life.

๐ŸŽญ Lorraine Bayly

Lorraine Bayly's childhood included a period in Batemans Bay, alongside years in other New South Wales towns. Her subsequent career ranged across stage and screen. Many viewers remember her as Grace Sullivan in The Sullivans or from Play School, where performance was pitched to a rather younger audience. Her association with this coast predates those nationally familiar roles.

๐Ÿค Anthony Bellette

When people sought shelter from bushfires at Malua Bay on 31 December 2019, Batemans Bay Surf Life Saving Club captain Anthony Bellette helped mobilise its volunteers. The club became an evacuation point, requiring food, water, traffic organisation and communication as well as the skills normally associated with beach patrols. His satellite phone helped keep information moving. The lifesaving organisation's account records both his coordination and the broader volunteer response to the crisis.
